Werder Bremen – Union Berlin

Werder Bremen hosts Union Berlin at the Weserstadion in a match from the 17th round of the Bundesliga.

Werder Bremen lost for a third consecutive time when the season was restarted in the weekend. The former champions paid a visit to Koln and the game ended very badly for Ole Werner’s team – 1-7. It was a nightmare for Werder who played one of their worst games for the season.

Niclas Füllkrug scored Werder’s only goal in the game, but it didn’t help much. What the manager Ole Werner must do now is make his players believe in themselves again. It won’t be easy after conceding seven goals, but sometimes you must deal with situations like this in football.

Werner could make some changes in Werder’s line-up for the next game. Players like Schmidt, Pieper, Stage and Buchanan could find a place in the starting eleven. Surely the head coach should come with a better plan here.

Union Berlin did much better in their first game since the winter break. The capital club hosted Hoffenheim and celebrated a 3-1 win at home. Hoffe finished the first half with one goal advantage, but in the second half Union dominated and scored three times. Danilho Doekhi scored twice and turned the result around while Jamie Leweling scored the decisive third goal.

For Union Berlin it was their 9th win for the season. At this moment they are third in the league with 30 points. Now Union are dreaming of a historic first appearance in the Champions League. It won’t be easy for them to do it, but right now it’s not impossible – if they keep their consistency.

That’s the preview of the Bundesliga clash between Werder Bremen and Union Berlin. The visitors are doing better this season, but let’s see how they will do away from home here. Werder are hurt – that’s for sure.
